The news of the upcoming Gran Turismo movie is now already out in the open. As per the latest update which came from Sony Pictures, they’ve announced that they’ve begun shooting for the film. Here are all the details that are now out on the movie based on the flagship racing-game series from Sony- Gran Turismo.

In the latest update, Sony Pictures has also confirmed the plot of the movie. We had earlier received a briefing of the same from Deadline, who revealed the logline of the Gran Turismo film. It is now confirmed that the movie is based on the real-life story of a teenage Gran Turismo player who went on to become a professional car racer. Sony Pictures has revealed that it will be portraying the journey of Jann Mardenborough in its upcoming movie.

As per information outed by Deadline, the movie is being directed by the award-winning director, Neill Blomkamp. Jason Hall is the screenwriter for the film, who has previously worked on the screenplay of movies like American Sniper. He was nominated for an Academy Award for the same. Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Doug Belgrad, and Dana Brunetti from PlayStation Productions will be heading the production of the movie. Columbia Pictures is also co-producing the movie.
Moving on to the cast, IMDb reports that the Gran Turismo movie will feature Archie Madekwe as the lead portraying Jann Mardenborough. Madekwe is known for his previous roles in Midsommar (2019), See (2019), and Voyagers. As for the others, it is an ensemble including stars like David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Djimon Hounsou, and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell-Horner. Daniel Puig, Darren Barnet, Josha Stradowski, Alexis Tuttle will also be starring in the movie. Maeve Courtier-Lilley, Emelia Hartford, Pepe Barroso, and Sang Heon Lee have now joined the cast as per an update that came yesterday.
Gran Turismo is currently scheduled for an August 11, 2023 release.
