GTA 5 and GTA Online coming to PS5, Xbox Series X in November 2021

Video game developer and publisher Rockstar Games has just shared a significant announcement regarding its flagship AAA franchise, GTA. As per the announcement, it will release its latest entry in the franchise, GTA V on the latest generation consoles. The publisher will launch the game for Sony PS5, and Microsoft Xbox Series X on November 11, 2021. In addition, the company will also release the online version of the game, GTA Online for next-gen consoles at the same time. GTA 5, GTA Online launch date out; details

As part of the launch announcement, Rockstar Games did not share information around the changes that gamers can expect. However, the company did note that the title will be “expanded and enhanced” on Xbox Series X, S, and PS5. This likely means improvement in performance, graphics, and gameplay. Rockstar Games did not share other details including the pricing and upgrade path for existing GTA V owners. It has already been shared that GTA Online, the stand-alone online version of the game will be available for free for owners on the PS5. However, this offer will be limited for the first three months after the release of the next-gen version of GTA Online.

Looking back, GTA 5 first launched back in 2013 on PlayStation 3, and Xbox 306. After the initial launch, Rockstar Games also launched the title on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This means that the game is currently supported by three different generations of consoles. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company for Rockstar Games revealed that it has sold more than 140 million copies of the game since the launch.

Rockstar Games also shared information around the future updates for GTA Online and Red Dead Online. Talking about details about GTA Online, the game publisher will release “special benefits” for players in the coming months. The publisher also stated that it will release more updates around the GTA and Red Dead Redemption franchise in the months to come.
