Japanese video game publisher and developer Capcom has just shared some information around its latest AAA title, Resident Evil Village. The company shared this information just days after releasing the much-anticipated title on the global stage. Revisiting the launch, the company released Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Re:Verse simultaneously on multiple platforms. Looking at the numbers, it seems Capcom has set a record for the Resident Evil franchise on PC. Here is everything we know about the Resident Evil Village series sale numbers and concurrent players.

Resident Evil Village sales and concurrent players out; details

Capcom has managed to sell 30 lakh (3 million) copies of Resident Evil Village in just four days. This means that the game has crossed Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 in terms of the sale numbers. Looking at other titles, Village only managed to match the Resident Evil 2 sale numbers. The only Resident Evil title that has more sale numbers than Village is the Resident Evil 6 from 2012. For some context, Resident Evil 6 sold 45 lakh (4.5 million) copies in just two days. The only other Capcom title that managed to achieve more sales was Monster Hunter: World with 60 lakh copies in 2018.

Moving on to player stats, Resident Evil Village also managed to achieve more than 1 lakh concurrent players at launch. According to the numbers from SteamCharts, the game clocked 1,01,430 players on May 7, the game's launch date. It peaked on Sunday, May 9 with 1,06,631 players at the same time playing the game. In contrast, Resident Evil 2 managed a peak of 74,024 players and Resident Evil 7, 18,211.

Considering the sale numbers and the fact that these player stats are just for Steam, the actual number is likely to be significantly higher. The game also launched on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Series S, and Stadia. Capcom already hopes that Resident Evil Village will become the best-selling title in the Resident Evil franchise. Back in March, it shared its ambitions around the quality of the game that could help the business side.
