System Shock remake delayed to May, release date announced 

The system Shock remake has been delayed to May. The game was initially scheduled to release in March.

System Shock remake is a reimagining of the classic 1994 first-person action RPG game, developed by Nightdive Studios. The game was initially set to release in March 2023. After the delay, the game will now release two months later, on May 30, 2023. The game is set in a dystopian future, where the player takes on the role of a hacker trying to stop an evil artificial intelligence known as SHODAN from taking over the world.

The delayed release date of May 30, 2023, is applied on all the PC platforms.

The developers, Nightdive Studios, wrote on the Steam page for System Shock, “We had hoped to bring the game to market by the end of March, but that turned out to be just beyond our reach; we are after all merely human (unlike Shodan!)”

The System Shock remake will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

What’s new in the System Shock remake 

The game has undergone significant development, with new gameplay features, updated graphics, and a reimagined storyline. The mission in the System Shock remake will be to save Earth from certain doom using “your stealth, cunning, and futuristic weaponry to navigate the Citadel Station”. 

The remake features updated graphics with modern lighting and visual effects, as well as 3D models and textures. Furthermore, it expands on the story and world-building of the original game, with new characters and locations. The System Shock remake features modernized controls and an improved user interface for a more intuitive gaming experience and a soundtrack with updated versions of the original game's music.

Players can pre-order the PC edition of System Shock via Steam, GOG, or the Epic Games Store and get a free copy of the upcoming System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. Other than that, the console editions of System Shock will be launched on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in the near future.
