It got delayed and then we had a new release date of September 2022. That was also pushed forward by a “few months” but there was no further update until now. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action RPG about Gollum (ofcourse) and it is set parallel to the events described in The Fellowship of the Ring. Players will be taking on the role of Gollum who will retrieve the One Ring in this game.

It was announced last May that the game will be headed to the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in September 2022 but it can now be a year-long delay.

“During the past several years, the team has been working hard to share our vision of a remarkable story, set in a breathtaking world, filled with magic and wonder,” said Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon last June when they released the first gameplay trailer.

They added, “We are dedicated to meeting our community’s expectations and uncovering the untold story of Gollum in a way that honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien. That being said, in order to deliver the best possible experience, we have decided to push the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum by a few months. We’ll update with an exact timing in the near future.”

If the report is true, it looks like we have our update and it’ll be interesting to see when we’ll hear about a concrete release date from the companies.
