Top 5 games releasing in December 2022: The Callisto Protocol, Need for Speed Unbound and more

While the year had plenty of big games getting delayed, here are some games that have managed to release their game in the last month of 2022.

We’ve had a plethora of great game releases this year. While the year had plenty of big games getting delayed such as Starfield, Redfall, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Forspoken, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Hogwarts Legacy and more. I could go on but let’s talk about the games that have managed to maintain the release date promise and will be released in December 2022. Here are our top 5 games released in December 2022.

5. Hello Neighbor 2

Popular Games

Hello Neighbor is back in December with a sequel. Gamers would play the role of a journalist trying to uncover the mystery behind a sketchy neighbourhood. The game’s trailer offers a glimpse at the kind of puzzle-solving and sneaking involved. Hello Neighbor has a strong community of its own and it’s probably why I keep seeing the constant banner of Hello Neighbor 2 hanging out on my Xbox homepage. Hello Neighbor 2 is developed and published by tinyBuild.

Hello Neighbor 2 will be released on December 6 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

4.  High on Life

High on Life is a video game based in the Rickverse (Rick & Morty universe) and this FPS game surely has enough trippy elements that make it stand out. For starters, you’ve got a talking gun that has Morty’s voice, delivered by Justin Roiland himself who voices Rick & Morty in the popular dark sci-fi comedy series.

High on Life is set to offer plenty of laughs while you’re on a world-saving mission and if you’ve got a gun constantly creating moral dilemmas, your choices are bound to be influenced. There might be a PlayStation version coming out someday but it’ll be an Xbox console exclusive for now. High on Life is developed and published by Squanch Games.

High on Life will be released on December 13 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

3. Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been marketed quite brilliantly so far, with even Deadpool taking over their social media to “leak” some upcoming Marvel characters for this tactical RPG game. There’s certainly hype for the game, given it’s Marvel. However, the game essentially looked like a card game but it’s bound to offer more than just turn-based combat. Marvel’s Midnight Suns also lay emphasis on creating a bond with Marvel characters in your team, which can be crucial on the battlefield. Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be released on December 2 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

2. Need for Speed Unbound

EA’s Need For Speed makes it long-awaited and there’s plenty of excitement revolving around this one. Criterion Games are back in charge who have previously developed Need for Speed Rivals and Need for Speed: Most Wanted (not the cool one). Criterion isn’t known for these games though but for their iconic Burnout series which was impressive, to say the least.

Need for Speed Unbound is said to bring racing back to the streets, and broadly the NFS franchise back to its roots. Unbound will feature a combination of rich graphics and detailing with artistic, anime-inspired visuals, as you can see in the trailer below. Need for Speed has been a sleeping giant for quite a while (despite new games) and perhaps Unbound will serve as the game that races it back to its glory days.

Need for Speed Unbound will be released on December 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

1.  The Callisto Protocol

Krafton’s upcoming survival-horror game The Callisto Protocol is definitely our pick for top game releasing in December. The Callisto Protocol has been developed by Striking Distance Studios and it’s headed by Glen Schofield, the genius behind Dead Space. If you’ve seen the trailers for The Callisto Protocol and know about Dead Space, you can understand why headed by Glen Schofield. The game looks promising and has a plethora of ways to combat fun and interesting, as we saw during Summer Game Fest.

The Callisto Protocol will be released on December 2 (yep, another one on December 2) for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
