ShahZaM exposes match-fixing in Valorant ranked play linked to gambling groups, drawing threats. Riot Games responds with an investigation.
Shahzeeb “ShahZaM” Khan, who used to play professionally and now streams Valorant, went public recently with concerns over what he says is happening in ranked games. Apparently, some players are throwing matches—not just badly playing but doing it on purpose. He said this might be connected with online gambling groups trying to rig games.
Valorant Streamer ShahZaM Points Fingers at Gamblers in Ranked
In one of his recent streams, he described seeing players at high ranks suddenly acting weird. Like, they just give up fights or make strange decisions. According to him, it doesn’t look random. It looks like it’s for money, for bets. These players, he says, are probably working with outside groups who bet on the games. If this is true, it would make the ranked system feel broken for a lot of real players trying to climb fairly.
Threats Sent After He Spoke Up:
It got worse not long after he went public. ShahZaM started getting threats. Not the usual hate comments, but serious stuff. On Twitter and Twitch, he showed messages that were violent, some of them even had his home address, which he said was leaked online.
He looked clearly upset in a Twitch clip where he said, “This is not just online trash talk. This is crossing a line into real life.” He also said he wouldn’t stop talking, even though it’s dangerous now.
People began asking Riot Games to get involved and help protect streamers like him. Because this isn’t just about bad games anymore—it’s real threats and possibly crime.
What Riot Had to Say:
Riot Games made a short statement after ShahZaM’s claims and the threats. They said they’re investigating the situation. On X (formerly Twitter), Riot mentioned that both their anti-cheat and security teams were involved.
They wrote, “We take match manipulation and harassment seriously,” and said that they want to keep both players and the competitive system safe.
No real updates yet, but they are looking into betting data and player behavior in ranked.
Other Players Show Support
Some big names in the community like Tarik and Kyedae have posted support for ShahZaM. Many of them are also worried that the ranked experience is being ruined. They’re calling for Riot to act stronger against gambling-related abuse.
Tarik said something like, “The ladder is being destroyed by greed,” and warned that if no action is taken, it might get worse.
With everything that’s happened, the Valorant scene is now talking more than ever about gambling, cheating, and safety. For ShahZaM and others who’ve spoken out, the hope is that real change comes before more harm is done—to the game and its people
