BGMI finally makes a comeback on Google Play Store, servers yet to be opened

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has finally made its comeback in India after a long gap of 10 months. The game was removed from the Indian e-stores in July 2022 under section 69A of the IT Act. The Government of India has permitted Krafton to run BGMI operations in the country after it complied with the laws of the land. However, the final decision on BGMI's future will be taken after 90 days, during this period, the Indian government will closely monitor the game. 

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has finally made its way to the Google Play Store after a gap of almost 10 months. The game was removed in July 2022 citing data privacy and security concerns. Krafton made a surprise announcement of the game's return on Friday, May 19, 2023. BGMI's arrival news created a buzz in the Indian gaming community as everyone was eagerly waiting for it. Now, BGMI has also arrived for Android users on the Google Play Store.

On May 22, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) was seen on the Google Play Store. However, it's the same 2.1 version that got updated in July 2022 prior to the ban and players won't be able to detect the game normally by searching for it in the Google Play Store. The only way to detect the game is to visit the official BGMI website and tap the Play Store link which will redirect them to the Google Play Store. Krafton later issued a statement in which they cleared doubts regarding the game's availability in estores. Here is the complete statement -

"Several users have been reaching out asking if they can download BGMI since they can see the "Download Now" option on the website. Please note, the game is not available to play as the servers have been shut. Currently, the closed test track for BGMI is updated. Those who opted for a public test for the game before its launch are expected to get a message via email which takes them to the Play Store for downloading the game. However, the game will not be available to play as the servers are shut. We also understand that some other users who had not opted for the closed test are also getting this message. This is a technical error and we are working on resolving it. We will inform you once the game is available to PLAY. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

It looks like that BGMI's latest version is yet to be listed on the Google Play Store and servers might too go live only after a full-fledged version gets released on the estores.
