Free Fire is all set to make a comeback in India after a long gap of 18 months. Scroll down to know more details.

The wait is finally over, Garena has officially announced the comeback of Free Fire in India after facing a suspension of 18 months. Garena has developed "Free Fire India" a localized version of the title for the Indian audience. Free Fire India will be launched on September 5, the pre-registration of the game has already started on the Google Play Store.

Free Fire was delisted on February 14, 2022, under section 69 A of the IT Act. Hence, to address the data security concerns of the Indian government, Garena has partnered with Yotta, a Hiranandani Group company, which will provide the local cloud hosting and storage infrastructure for Free Fire India. This means that the personal data of the Indian users will be stored locally with security being the topmost priority.

Additionally, Garena has announced Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian Cricket Team as the new brand ambassador of Free Fire India. Players will get to witness MS Dhoni as a playable character in the game as Thala. The game trailer has also featured famous Indian sports icons including football captain Sunil Chhetri, badminton champion Saina Nehwal, tennis legend Leander Paes, and Kabbadi champion Rahul Chaudhari.

In the earlier part of this year, Garena and Yotta established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The aim of this collaboration is to actively promote the growth and advancement of esports within India.

In a recent announcement, Garena has disclosed that the highly anticipated Free Fire India Championship (FFIC), their flagship esports tournament, is scheduled to occur later this month. This event is open to participation from teams all across India. The victorious team will not only claim the championship title but will also secure the prestigious opportunity to represent India at the Free Fire World Series, scheduled to be held in Thailand this coming November.

In the subsequent weeks, further details regarding FFIC and other esports ventures dedicated to enhancing the Free Fire gaming scene in India will be unveiled.
