Western Digital launches new WD Black products in India, details

Looking at the announcement, WD emphasized the importance of SSD storage for games on gaming PCs and laptops. Western Digital also conducted research noting that about 57 percent of PC gamers attribute bad gaming experience to slow storage mediums. The WD Black SN850, and AN1500 SSD add-in card joins the existing lineup of WD Black storage products. Digging deeper, the SN850 is an internal NVMe SSD with PCIe Gen-4 connectivity. This allows the SSD to offer read speeds of up to 7000MB/s and write speeds of about 5300MB/s.

WD also notes that this SSD improves its “low queue-depth” performance along with a new cache technology. SN850 comes in two designs where the first one sports a built-in heat sink while the second relies on the NVMe heat sink available on motherboards. The integrated heat-sink model also features an embedded, addressable RGB to offer some style. This SSD will be available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2GB storage options with a starting price of Rs 14,490.

The second product in the lineup, WD Black AN1500 NVMe Add-in card is a PCIe Gen 3-based SSD. It comes with two internal SSDs set in RAID0 for impressive speeds. Though it could not match the SN850 in performance, it does offer up to 6,500 MB/s read and 4,100MB/s write speeds. It only comes in one design with integrated customizable RBG. The company is selling this product in three capacities including 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB with a starting price of Rs 30,990. Both these products are available for sale now. In the past, the company had already launched its WD Black P10 Game Drive, P10 Game drive for Xbox, and P50 Game drive SSD. The special edition CoD products will land sometime in January 2021.
