Date A Live Spirit Crisis (JP) Shutting Down on February 28, 2025; Check Details

Kadokawa has officially announced that the Japanese version of Date A Live Spirit Crisis, a side-scrolling action RPG based on the popular Date A Live anime and light novel series, will cease operations on February 28, 2025. This follows the shutdown of its global and HD versions (Date A Live: Spirit Pledge HD) on May 20, 2023. While the news disappoints fans, the developers have assured that the game will continue running smoothly until its final day.

 

A Farewell to Date A Live Spirit Crisis

 

Date A Live Spirit Crisis thrilled gamers with side-scrolling action and beautiful effects from skills. Players could command three characters during battles, and each had a special skill, making the experience interesting and full of action. It featured spirits rendered in Live2D, which were from the Date A Live series.

Despite its popularity, the developers will be discontinuing the game. In their message of farewell, they said "We will continue to run the service sincerely until the last day." Undoubtedly, it will be an end to something as memorable for fans: battle immersion and excellent storytelling.

Final Updates and Refund Policy

As part of the shutdown process, character creation, in-game purchases, and regular updates are disabled, but existing players can continue playing until the game closes. All previously purchased items like passes and monthly passes remain available.

In a final push, the developers are introducing a last Spirit Summon Gacha with all limited characters and exclusive items for making the farewell special. Furthermore, players will receive free Gacha resources and training items via in-game mail so that they can fully enjoy the last moments of the game.

For players with unused paid Diamonds, a refund application process is in place. Refund requests can be submitted through the in-game Refund Application Form before the deadline on April 30, 2025. To avoid complications, players are advised not to uninstall the game until their refund is processed.

End of an Era

Following the shutdown of its global versions, the closure of the Japanese server was somewhat anticipated. While Date A Live Spirit Crisis had strong potential, various challenges led to its discontinuation. Fans are understandably saddened to see another title from the franchise come to an end.

Game Elimination

Since February 28, 2025, its version will become unavailable in both Google Play Stores and Apple Stores. The death of the game is sad, though the developers can still update as much as needed and support customers with refunds.
