How to Get Chrono Shield Cards in Marvel Rivals: Check Details

Marvel Rivals has just become even more competitive with the inclusion of Chrono Shield Cards, added to the game in the May 14 update. These premium consumables provide a savvy method of safeguarding your rank gain in Competitive Mode, particularly for those ascending through Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Given to alleviate the disappointment of losing streaks, Chrono Shield Cards lockout rank loss upon a loss, giving you that extra chance to recover without falling lower on the ladder. 

How to Obtain Chrono Shield Cards

Players can only get Chrono Shield Cards through the Galacta’s Gift event, anyway, which just gives you prizes for playing games. Moreover, you can also find the event in the main menu, there is an event tab, and just click that to begin. Here’s what you need to do:

• Play 3 games (in Quick Match, Competitive, or Play vs. AI) to begin earning rewards.

• Two of these Chrono Shield Cards will be provided at the second and fourth reward milestones after 12 matches.

• Other prizes you can earn include Sprays, Nameplates, and the Costume Coin, which can get you a free skin.

How Chrono Shield Cards Work

When you lose a game in Competitive Mode, these cards automatically trigger, keeping you at the same rank instead of demoting you. You don’t have to equip them or use them manually, they operate automatically. But they are subject to certain rules:

• They will only start if you don't already have a standard active Chrono Shield.

• Only usable at Gold rank and below; players higher than Gold can't use them

• You’re limited to 20 cards at any given time.

• Cards reset every season and can’t be purchased, so the only way to earn them is to play.

Why They Matter

They are great little safety nets for competitive players if you are trying to push a rank or grind packs at a late point in the season. For instance, this season’s Golden Diamond costume for Emma Frost is for top-ranking players only, so every second counts.

You get cosmetic rewards, but also give yourself an edge in Competitive Mode when you participate in the Galacta’s Gift event. Since there currently is no way to purchase them, Chrono Shield Cards prioritize playing fairly and playing frequently over spending money.
