Warner Bros. Games has stealthily released Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition with no prior announcement. The game is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. This edition bundles the entire content lineup released since the game’s debut in 2023. It targets new players and fans who missed earlier content drops.

Billed as the most complete version of Mortal Kombat 1, this edition includes the base game, DLC expansions, bonus fighters, and exclusive cosmetic items. It is priced at $69.99 for most platforms. The Nintendo Switch version costs $59.99.

All-Inclusive Content Bundle

Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition features the original game, the Khaos Reigns story expansion, and two Kombat Packs. The expansion also includes a new narrative and more fighters. However, the standalone Kombat Pack 2 character bundle is not included as a separate purchase.

New and Returning Characters

Kombat Pack 1 adds several high-profile characters. These include Omni-Man from Invincible, Peacemaker from DC, Homelander from The Boys, along with Ermac, Quan Chi, and Takeda Takahashi.

Kombat Pack 2 includes Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor. It also adds crossover fighters like Ghostface from Scream, T-1000 from Terminator 2, and Conan the Barbarian. Madam Bo joins the list as a new Kameo fighter.

Players also gain access to five support characters. These Kameo Fighters are Tremor, Khameleon, Janet Cage, Mavado, and Ferra. They provide backup moves during matches, adding variety and strategy.

Bonus Skins and Unlockables

The Definitive Edition includes the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage. It also features movie-themed skins for multiple characters like Shao Khan, Kitana, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero.

Other cosmetic items include the Tournament Liu Kang skin and various pre-order bonuses. These include Wedding Scorpion, Ultimate MK3 Sub-Zero, Empress Mileena, and Ultimate MK3 Noob Saibot. Players also get the Shang Tsung fighter, Havik unlocked instantly, and the full Kameo Unlock Pack. Additionally, it provides 1,250 Dragon Krystals as in-game currency.

Switch Version Still Underperforms

Despite launching on the Switch, performance issues continue. The game still suffers from visual and technical shortcomings on the platform. A future release on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 could solve these problems. However, Warner Bros. has not confirmed any plans for a native next-gen Switch port.

Fans looking for the complete MK1 experience now have a definitive option. The edition compiles years of content in one seamless package.
