Cyberpunk 2077, the latest AAA video game from Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red is back in news. This time, we are not talking about the quality of the game, updates, class-action lawsuits, and more. Instead, we are focusing on the gamers playing the game or rather the number of players in Night City. According to a new report, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 has lost about 79 percent of its player base on Steam. This information comes less than a month after the launch of the game. Let’s check out the details around this new information about Cyberpunk 2077 here.

Cyberpunk 2077 player base dips, details

The report regarding the dip in the player base comes just weeks after CD Projekt Red outlined its total sale figures. As reported previously, the company has sold about 13 million copies of the game at launch. It also managed to break several records on Steam including the most concurrent players in a single-player game. In fact, the launch of the game temporarily caused issues on Steam and GOG. Now, a report from GitHyp has outlined the player data for the game since the launch. Looking at the data, it seems like Cyberpunk 2077 has lost about 79 percent of its players since the launch.

It is currently getting about two lakh players every day as compared to more than ten lakh in December. The report also compared Cyberpunk 2077 player base with the last CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It noted that Wild Hunt took about three months to lose 79 percent of its player base in 2015. For some context, it also started with a lower peak of about 92,000 players at launch.

In addition to the information about the player base, CD Projekt Red also issued a statement addressing rumors around the development of the game. The company shared the statement through the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account. The statement added that the “story” in question “is simply not true”. In addition, CD Projekt Red noted that this statement marks a rare “exception” for the company to “comment on rumors”. The story in question surfaced on Reddit where an alleged CD Projekt Red developer shared information regarding the development of the game. This post included rumors about update timelines, the content removed from the game, and more.

Speed glitch spotted; allows players to run faster than cars

Insane Speed New Glitch without slow time Super EASY to do from r/cyberpunkgame

Another report made its way to the internet highlighting a glitch in the game. According to a post on Reddit, this “speed glitch” works after the player mods V, the main character with “Maneuvering System” cyberware. This allows the player to dodge “mid-air”. The post noted that players can also dash mid-air with the cyberware. If a player times the dash properly, their character can get super-speed. One has to dash right before the character lands on the ground. This confuses the game and forces it to merge dash and jump forward. One can repeat it to build momentum and speed. This trick allows players to run faster than the game can load cars.
