Next, the creator of The Game Awards, the iconic Geoff Keighley, took over the stage. He began his act by introducing Al Pacino to the stage, starting the show on a high note. The other high moments of the star-studded celebration that the 2022 edition of The Game Awards was, would be the following appearances. Actors Jessica Hennik and Daniel Craig dropped in to announce the new Hide n Seek mode in Among Us. Apparently, Among Us has also been featured in Craig’s upcoming movie “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”. The cast of The Last of Us comprising Pedro Pascal, and Bella Ramsey, along with Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson also made an appearance. They announced that The Last of Us: Part I is coming to PC on 3rd March 2023. Keegan-Michael Key was there for the promotion of the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. Key is playing Toad in the movie, which will launch in theatres next year on April 7th.

There were performances from Hozier and Halsey. Hozier performed “Blood Upon the Snow” from God of War: Ragnarok. Halsey on the other hand performed “Lilith” from the soundtrack of Diablo IV, which is launching next year. Singer Aurora also appeared to announce her collaboration with indie developers Thatgamecompany for Sky: Children of the Light. A virtual concert can be experienced in the game every 4 hours starting December 8 to January 2nd.

Additionally, Keighley also presented a tribute to the late Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman that we know from animated shows and the Arkham Trilogy games. Ofcourse it was incomplete without a replay of “I am vengeance”. Keighley also announced that we’ll get to experience one last performance from Conroy in the upcoming game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

As for the Awards, God of War: Ragnarok and Elden Ring seemed to be appearing as a nomination in every other category. The latter however took home the most coveted award of the night- The Game of the Year. On the hand, though the PS Exclusive Horizon Forbidden West received multiple nominations, it didn't win anything. Stray and Final Fantasy XIV emerged as the other heroes of the night. Here’s the complete list of winners of every award announced at The Game Awards 2022.

The drama continued even after The Game Awards 2022 drew to an end. During the announcement of The Game of the Year, a teenager who goes by the name of Even appeared on the stage from nowhere, to express his appreciation of the former US President, Bill Clinton. He promptly went up in front of the mic, in the presence of the crew of Elden Ring, including artist Hidetaka Miyazaki, who just received the GOTY award, and said, “I think I want to nominate this award to my reformed orthodox rabbi, Bill Clinton. Thank you, everybody”. Creator of The Game Awards announced shortly afterward that the “individual who interrupted our Game of the Year moment has been arrested”. Regardless, the end was baffling enough to keep the gaming fans going on about it for days to come.

Moving on, Geoff Keighley has already announced that both The Game Awards and The Summer Games Fest are to return next year. Meanwhile, we have the holiday season next up, to keep us gamers on our toes.
