1. The Indian Gaming Industry met with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology yesterday

After the announcement of the Draft Amendments to IT Rules, 2021, the Ministry of Information and Technology had opened itself to the feedback of the public till 17th January, 2023. Some of the major bodies of the Indian gaming scenario got together to reach out on this regard. The representatives from this joint body met with the MeitY in person yesterday to discuss the policies on regulation of gaming in India. They primarily sought a clear distinction between the various categories of online gaming, like video games and iGaming. 

2. The Last of Us HBO series is now out

The much awaited HBO series on PlayStation’s Last of Us video game series has finally premiered on 16th January. The response from the audience has already been massive, ending up as one of the best rated shows of all times. After the 80 minute long pilot setting the premise for the show, the second episode will premiere on January 22.  

3. PUBG Mobile’s latest collaboration is with car manufacturer Polaris

In the latest crossover episode, PUBG Mobile has announced their collaboration with the car manufacturer Polaris Inc. Vehicle skins of the Polaris RZR Turbo R4 and Pro R4 will be available in Livik. Erangel will get a Polaris inspired Buggy. The crossover event ends on 14th February, 2023. The 3 skins are now already available in the game. 

 

4. Riot Games celebrates launch of Harbor with billboards dedicated to eSports stars from India

In the latest celebratory bout for the launch of the Indian agent Harbor in Valorant, Riot Games is painting the town, not red though. An 8400 Sq ft mural art has been put up  at Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg Road, Colaba, South Mumbai. Additionally, a total of 17 billboards have been put up across the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi NCR and Baroda, celebrating the contribution of Indian esports pros, with Valorant.

5. Valve suffers the biggest leak in its history, with assets from as old as 2016 now out 

Valve has suffered what is now being dubbed as one of the biggest leaks in the company’s history. Assets from games like Portal, Half-Life 2, including its multiplayer counterpart, and Team Fortress 2 are now out online. However, nothing from any of Valve’s upcoming projects have yet been outed by the leaker. 

6. Hogwarts Legacy leaks reveal character inventory menu, game length, early world map and more

Twitter user Bigby shared several images from Hogwarts Legacy, most notably a picture of the character inventory menu. This menu featured the health, attack and defence stats of the character. It also shows that the character can be equipped with a variety of accessories and clothing which contribute towards these player stats. There’s also a section for wands, which means a wizard or witch may get to switch between multiple wands. Information revealed also hints at the game’s possible duration of 35 hours.

7. Bandai Namco’s next Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 Open Beta test now live

Bandai Namco is currently running the Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 PC Open Beta. This second open beta is running from January 16 at 9 pm PST to January 19 until 12 AM PST. The news comes after the first open beta by Bandai Namco didn’t go as planned. The developer B.B. Studio couldn’t collect the data they needed and their servers couldn’t handle the hundreds of thousands of players that hopped on to test the PC game.

8. Global Esports CEO urges BGMI players to concentrate on New State Mobile

Rushindra Sinha, CEO of Global Esports, stated in a livestream that BGMI would not return until March or April. Sinha has asked the BGMI players to shift their focus to Krafton's third-person battle royale game, New State Mobile. He went on to explain how BGMI's ban in India is following the same pattern as that of PUBG Mobile.
