Hogwarts Legacy The Eye of Disillusionment- Here's how you can open the Eye Chests and eye locks

A weird eye that looks alive can be found guarding various objects like giant chests in Hogwarts Legacy. Here's what it is, and how can unlock it.

Hogwarts Legacy is stacked with puzzles and riddles for you to figure out, if you want to complete the game in its entirety. They mostly come with rewards that you can collect, which include galleons, gear, field guide pages, Wiggenweld potion and the like. One such mysterious artifact would be the huge chest with an eye for a lock. If you haven’t yet figured out how to unlock it, and what it contains, here’s where you can.

The Eye of Disillusionment

These chests can be found in locations across the map and not just within the Hogwarts Castle. And here’s the best part, these eye chests are an easy source of 500 galleons for you. You know that is a lot of currency to claim at one go, especially if you too have been struggling with earning them.

So how exactly do you open them? The chests are guarded by the Eye of Disillusionment, an object that has been introduced to the Wizarding World universe with Hogwarts Legacy. It is used as a lock to guard against enemies and visible foes. You need to sneak up to the Eye of Disillusionment, and catch it off-guard to get to whatever it is guarding. The best way to do so would be to make yourself as invisible as possible.

How to unlock the eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy?

For that, you have the invisibility potion. However, a more readily available option would be the disillusionment charm. It is unlocked as part of the main quest Secrets of the Restricted Section. This is the eighth main quest that you will have to complete in order to progress through the game, as a part of the third chapter, Find the Secret in the Restricted Section.

You team up with Sebastian Sallow who has a certain affinity for all things sneaky and mischievous. Sebastian will teach you the Disillusionment charm, that renders you temporarily invisible. The Disillusionment charm acts more of a camouflage but isn’t completely foolproof when it comes to invisibility. However, it is enough to sneak up on people and objects like the Eye of Disillusionment.

The eye closes once it has been opened

As for the Eye of Disillusionment, they can be found around the map, not only guarding chests, but also giant doors. The strategy to unlock them remains the same regardless. Just reach out the Disillusionment charm in your arsenal.
