Ahead of the competition, the teams have also revealed their rosters, and the defending champions, Tundra Esports will also be seen competing in the tournament. The competition is one of the biggest DOTA 2 competitions in the world, and BLAST has ensured that the winnings match the grandeur of the tournament. 

The prize pool of the tournament is $1 million and the winning team will get $300,000. The rest of the money will be presented to different teams that secure different positions. The breakdown will be given in the sections that follow.

Dota 2 BLAST Slam III Format and Venue details

The tournament is divided into two phases: Group Stage and Playoffs. The competition will be taking place in the BLAST Studios in Copenhagen. Here is a breakdown of both the phases of the tournament: 

Group Stage (May 6th - May 8th)

  • Ten teams will be divided into two round-robin groups.
  • All matches in the group stage are Best-of-1 (Bo1).
  • There are no eliminations in the group stage.
  • Teams are seeded into the playoffs based on their final placement in the groups using a "King of the Hill" style seeding:
  • 1st place teams from each group are seeded directly into the Semifinals.
  • 2nd place teams are seeded into the Quarterfinals.
  • 3rd place teams are seeded into Round 2 of the playoffs.
  • 4th and 5th place teams are seeded into Round 1 of the playoffs.

Playoffs (May 9th - May 11th)

  • The playoffs feature a single-elimination bracket.
  • All matches in the playoffs are Best-of-3 (Bo3), except for the Grand Final, which is a Best-of-5 (Bo5).
