Once again two social media giants Instagram and Facebook are down. Meta has not given any clarification.
Facebook and Instagram Down
On Tuesday evening both Facebook and Instagram experienced outages, prompting users to turn to platforms like Twitter and Downdetector to report the issues they were encountering on these popular social media platforms.
Late Tuesday evening, "Facebook" and "Instagram" were trending on Twitter as users found themselves unable to access Meta's social platforms. This led to a user commenting, "Love that I can always count on Twitter to confirm that Meta is down and we’ve all been logged out of Facebook and Instagram isn’t working."
Approximately 134,000 reports indicated problems with Facebook's app and log in, as well as the official website. A similar uptick in reports was seen in the US, with a massive 315,000 reports filed.
Instagram users in the same locations were also experiencing issues, with a similar number of reports of problems on Downdetector. These issues began shortly after 8:30 PM IST.
Meta has yet to issue any official clarification on the reported outrage.
Overall, the outages on both Facebook and Instagram prompted a significant response from users and demonstrated the widespread impact of the disruptions on these popular social media platforms.
