Recently, in 2021, Activision Blizzard introduced the RICOCHET anti-cheat system to tackle the issue of cheating in their games. Despite cheat makers' constant efforts to exploit the game, the system has been somewhat successful. The latest ban wave has resulted in the temporary suspension of 14,000 cheaters.

There is speculation that this latest ban wave is connected to a court case where Activision won $3 million in damages from cheat maker EngineOwning. It is believed that the banned accounts are directly linked to EngineOwning and InterWebz, as users from these platforms are now unable to log in.

The release of Season 5 of Modern Warfare 2 and the upcoming launch of Modern Warfare 3 indicate that Activision is taking a stronger stance against cheating in the game. This ban wave is only the beginning of their efforts to create a fair and enjoyable gaming experience for everyone.
