Similarly to the prequel, God of War Ragnarok is expected to add some neat additions to the gameplay.

Santa Monica Studio took to Twitter to announce that God of War Ragnarok will be receiving a New Game Plus mode in Spring 2023. God of War Ragnarok, nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, is one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful games of 2022. The upcoming New Game Plus will let players once again through the story of Ragnarok but they’ll retain all their abilities and equipment unlocked when completing the game.

While fans hoped Ragnarok would arrive with the feature at launch, it wasn’t surprising that it was not included. God of War (2018) also had the New Game Plus mode arrive a couple of months after the game launch.

It’s not just the God of War franchise though. Typically first-party PlayStation games these days release the New Game Plus mode sometime after launch. Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Forbidden West both released the New Game Plus mode a couple of months after their respective game launches.

God of War (2018) players had their earned equipment and abilities carried over and create new armour sets for Kratos and Atreus. This new armour set could be developed using a new resource called skap slag which was added for the New Game Plus mode.  Also, the developers added new attack patterns for enemies to make New Game Plus more challenging for players as they already started the journey with earned equipment and skill from the previous run.

Similarly to the prequel, God of War Ragnarok is expected to add some neat additions to the gameplay.
