Lionel Messi wins the World Cup for Argentina, as predicted correctly by EA Sports through FIFA 23

While football delivered one of the best matches of all time last night, it seems like EA’s prediction was inevitable as the game publisher has managed to make correct predictions for four straight world cups now.

EA Sports has correctly predicted the winner of the World Cup once again as Argentina lifted the cup for the first time since 1986. This prediction means that the game publisher and developer have correctly predicted four World Cup winners. If that’s not impressive enough, EA has managed to predict these four winners in a row.

While football delivered one of the best matches of all time last night, it seems like EA’s prediction was inevitable. A nail-biting 4-2 win on penalties sealed the victory for Argentina after a thrilling 3-3 contest against France. Lionel Messi’s brace and Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick will go down in history as one of the most coveted World Cup final of all time.

Electronic Arts history of predicting World Cup results and winners

Speaking of history books, Electronic Arts has managed to make correct predictions for four straight world cups now, spanning over 16 years.

EA Sports predicted that Lionel Messi would take home the Golden boot for most goals in the tournament and it seemed like it would happen, only for Mbappe to shine bright for his nation. He scored a hat-trick that took his goal tally to 8, one more than the Argentine baller Messi.

While EA’s prediction is certainly impressive, they did not predict the runner-up correctly as it was France against Argentina in the final instead of Brazil. EA predicted that France would be the third-placed country in the tournament but that accolade went to Luka Modric’s Croatia instead.

Electronic Arts had predicted Spain would win the World Cup in 2010, Germany in 2014, and France in 2018. All of these predictions came true and now Argentina has won the world cup as well in 2022.

These predictions were made based on EA’s simulation of World Cup tournament in their FIFA video games. EA also correctly predicted that Emilio Martinez would win the Golden Glove at the tournament, which he did by bagging 3 clean sheets to his name.
