Should Grand Theft Auto VI Allow Players to Kill Children? The Controversial Debate

The heated debate surrounding the potential inclusion of killable children in GTA VI.

Undoubtedly, Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most eagerly awaited video games since, well, GTA V. Given that the upcoming game's creator, Rockstar Games, hasn't made any formal announcements, this is very amusing. There is currently no release date for GTA VI, no trailer, and no information on the gameplay or plot. The only thing we can be certain of is that GTA VI is being developed, as was revealed almost two years ago.

We've been forced to settle for those famed gameplay leaks that were taken from an early build for the time being. We've also had to put up with a never-ending barrage of rumours and conjecture, including the series returning to Vice City's Miami-inspired setting. Additionally, it is rumoured that GTA VI will have the playable characters Jason and Lucia, who are said to be modeled by the notorious criminal pair Bonnie and Clyde.

Fans of the long-running Grand Theft Auto franchise, however, can't stop raving about the upcoming installment despite having nothing to gnaw on. Fans have theorised, offered speculations, expressed their wishes for the game, and done much more. One recent argument, though, may be a little more unsettling than the others. The question of whether or not we should be able to kill children in Grand Theft Auto VI has recently come up for debate.

SWEGTA tweeted, "I'm cool with killable kids in GTA VI. "Wastling thousands of adults is acceptable, but when you throw one child off a precipice, have you crossed the line? Pfffh." It's important to remember that the tweet lacks any context or tone, so to be charitable,

Regardless, that hasn't stopped a Reddit thread from discussing whether or not this should be a genuine feature in Grand Theft Auto VI.

“I'll be honest, I see no problem. It's the moral dilemma of the player. Do you or don't you, but the ability should be there,” expressed a Reddit user. “For example, I'll never kill a horse in Red Dead Redemption or a dog or anything like that in a video game. Why? Because it upsets me. But, the ability is there. It can happen, but not by me.”

“I personally think that killable children is not an absolutely terrible thing, as long as they don't look like actual children,” said another. “I don't see any problem with his statement. There is no difference between killing a child and an adult. By saying "killing kids is unacceptable" we're implying that killing adults is also acceptable, but it's not,” adds this Redditor.

Of course, there were people who opposed killing children in video games on the other side of the debate. TechieTravis claimed that "killing children is definitely worse than killing adults." "Perhaps in real life. No, not in video games. Phuxsea yelled, "Killing children will result in the game being outlawed worldwide.

In related news, it has been rumoured that GTA VI would be a massive 750GB download. Yikes! Additionally, GTA VI may debut in 2025, according to Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games.
