Assassin's Creed Shadows Rolls Out Title Update 1.0.5 With Parkour Upgrades, Bug Fixes, and New Quests
Assassin's Creed Shadows Title Update 1.0.5 adds new quests, parkour fixes, and photo mode upgrades.

Ubisoft has announced to deploy Assassin's Creed Shadows Title Update 1.0.5, which will deploy on May 27 at 12 PM UTC (2 PM CET / 10 AM EDT / 7 AM PDT). The new update introduces numerous gameplay improvements, new in-game content, and platform-specific fixes to address bugs with the aim of making the experience better for players on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Mac, and Steam.
Patch sizes differ across platforms, from around 3.3 GB on PS5 to about 19 GB on Xbox platforms.
New Content and Features
Unlockable Pre-order Quest: "Thrown to the Dogs"
Players can now access the pre-order bonus mission, "Thrown to the Dogs," which involves a devoted canine friend by the name of Tsuki-maru. This quest appears early in the game and becomes accessible after the completion of "From Spark to Flame" and can be started at the Tennoji Temple close to Osaka.
Collaboration With Dead by Daylight
Tagging the game's first co-op event, Assassin's Creed Shadows is also launching a crossover with Dead by Daylight. The event adds a spooky mystery to Harima, where villagers in the area are disappearing mysteriously. The quest is made available after Yasuke is unlocked and objectives from the Hideout are completed. Players are rewarded with themed items upon successful completion such as a trinket, banner, and a cosmetic pack with Dead by Daylight-inspired clothing, weapons, and a unique mount called Maurice.
Title Update 1.0.5 is inbound tomorrow, May 27th @ 12 PM UTC.

Balatro-Inspired Items
A new trinket for Naoe and amulet for Yasuke—named "Winning Hand"—have also been released, both of which carry a legendary bonus. These are inspired by the indie favorite Balatro and give the power to deal random afflictions during finishing a combo. Information about how to get them is unknown, which promotes community cooperation.
Parkour System Improved
Due to continuous player feedback, the development team has made large improvements on parkour mechanics:
- Vertical Jump Mechanics: Both protagonists Naoe and Yasuke are able to jump to access ledges, awnings, and overhangs without requiring a vertical wall run. This is triggered by simply using the jump button against a low overhang.
- Sprint Lock While Climbing: Sprint will now stay active for as long as movement input is ongoing, even for Parkour Up or Down movements.
- Enhanced Side & Back Ejects: Side and back jumping range and smoothness has been optimized. Naoe, for instance, has new animations, making her better able to maintain high heights while traversing.
Photo Mode Sees Major Expansion
This patch brings one of the most significant Photo Mode overhauls in the history of Assassin's Creed. New features enable players to:
- Change the time of day
- Change poses and facial expressions
- Toggle headgear on and off
- Play background music during the photo shoot
- Utilize customizable stickers and frames
- Save customized filter presets
- Adjust only chosen visual settings
- Control camera speed
- Preview edits more efficiently
- Activate fullscreen mode (PC only)
Players are invited to share their favorite in-game photos via the hashtag #ACPhotoMode.
Gameplay and Balance Adjustments
Inventory and Progression Repairs
A recurring "New Item" alert has been eliminated, and bugs wherein players accidentally began with top-level equipment and maxed-out progress have been fixed.
Economy Rebalancing
The patch adjusts the in-game economy system. High-damage weapons such as Samurai Daisho and Ronin no longer give unfairly huge Mon amounts. Merchant prices for crafting pieces have been toned down to encourage exploration, and contract rewards have been boosted to make up for it.
Quest and World Stability
A variety of quest-related issues have been fixed:
- Several issues in "Diary of Lady Rokkaku," "Missing Missive," "Showdown in Sakamoto," and other quests have been resolved to maintain correct progress and quest completion.
- Players previously trapped in zones such as Osaka Castle or at certain story checkpoints can now proceed uninterrupted.
- Characters not showing or responding in quests like "The League" or "Wake Up Call" will now act as expected.
Combat and Stealth Tweaks
- The notorious +600% affliction engraving mistake has been fixed to its proper 6%.
- Shinobi Bell stealth mechanics work as intended now, even for NPCs outside direct visibility.
Visual, Hideout, and Platform-Specific Fixes
Graphics and Mounts
Visual issues with mounts such as "Kaen" and "Sekiryu" not being able to fit into stables have been fixed. Visual inaccuracies with armors and oversized NPCs popping up out of nowhere have also been remixed.
Hideout Enhancements
Stability has also been enhanced for gamers with highly customized hideouts, and interaction bugs with characters like Gennojo have also been resolved.
Xbox Updates
Significant Xbox fixes include the restoration of Balanced Performance Mode for Series X (suitable with high-refresh-rate monitors) and addressing input lag with mouse and keyboard. Photo Mode thumbnail bugs associated with gamertags have also been resolved.
