Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has launched its highly anticipated 3.8 update, introducing a blend of global gameplay innovations alongside content tailored specifically for Indian players. The update highlights the all-new Steampunk Frontier Mode, an Anniversary Crate celebrating BGMI’s legacy, and several India-first partnerships and events.
Minu Lee, Head of IN Publishing at KRAFTON India, described the update as a significant step toward making BGMI a more culturally connected and community-focused platform. The new features aim to reflect the interests and passion of Indian gamers while supporting the expanding esports ecosystem.
Steampunk Frontier Mode: Futuristic Combat in Aetherholm
Available from May 15 to July 14, the limited-time Steampunk Frontier Mode transforms the battlefield into the advanced steampunk city of Aetherholm. This mode introduces fast-paced, strategic gameplay with features such as:
- Titan Battles: Large-scale boss fights at Ruined Castle offering powerful loot.
- Slide Rail System: Enables quick movement for tactical plays.
- Hot Air Balloons: Provides vertical combat advantages.
- Cyclone Coasters: High-speed railways for rapid escapes and attacks.
- Secret Treasure Rooms: Hidden spots with valuable gear.
- ODM Gear & Giant Form: Combat abilities inspired by anime for varied tactics.
- Steampunk Weapons and UI: Enhances the retro-futuristic atmosphere.
Anniversary Crate and Gameplay Upgrades
To mark BGMI’s journey, the Anniversary Crate offers upgraded versions of popular weapons like UZI, GROZA, UMP45, and M16A4, along with themed lobby decorations and cosmetic items.
Additional updates include:
- New Vehicle – Fila UAZ: Improved durability and driver protection.
- Driver Shooting: Players can now fire one-handed weapons while driving.
- JS9 SMG: A lightweight, fast-firing submachine gun.
- Solo Arena Mode: Introduces 1v1 battles for players above Level 10.
Sting® x BGMI Collaboration
PepsiCo’s Sting® energy drink becomes the official in-game energy booster in BGMI. The partnership includes branded in-game items and co-branded Sting® bottles available across India, adding an immersive brand experience to the game.
Cricket League Event and India-Themed Map Updates
BGMI celebrates cricket fever with the Cricket League Exchange Center event, where players can earn tokens and win jerseys representing popular Indian cricket teams like Chennai Star Knights and Mumbai Invincibles.
