Call of Duty Black Ops 6: Blueprint Swap Returns in Season 4 Update
After months of delays, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 finally brings back the Blueprint Swap feature—letting players customize weapon skins and attachments again. Warzone balance updates also shake up the meta.

After months of confusion, radio silence, and broken promises, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has finally brought back one of the most requested features: Blueprint Swap. And yes, it’s exactly what fans have been begging for.
A Disappearing Act That Left Players Guessing
The Blueprint Swap feature originally popped up during Season 1, only to vanish just days later—without warning or explanation. Players were understandably frustrated, and things only got worse when the promised return in Season 3 never happened. Despite Treyarch teasing its comeback, the feature was nowhere to be found in April. Fast-forward to May, and with Season 4 right around the corner, the devs finally delivered.
So What Does Blueprint Swap Do, Again?
For those who missed it the first time: Blueprint Swap gives players the freedom to customize any base weapon or weapon blueprint with an unlocked or purchased skin. That means your guns can now look just as cool as they handle.
Here’s the deal:
-
If you’re using a weapon blueprint, you can mix and match skins while still tweaking attachments.
-
If you’re on a base weapon, you can apply an entire weapon skin—though the attachments themselves won’t change in appearance.
To start swapping, just hit the “skins” tab in the Gunsmith and see which options are available for your loadout.
Some Skins Still Have Rules
Treyarch also gave a heads-up about Mastercraft blueprints. These come with unique built-in designs—like custom barrels or stocks—that won’t change even if you switch out parts. So don’t panic if your new scope doesn’t match the rest of your flashy gun; it’s just how the Mastercraft magic works.
Warzone Update Brings Some Weapon Shakeups
While Black Ops 6 players are busy making their guns look fresh, Call of Duty: Warzone also got a patch on May 7—but not everyone’s happy about it. Some popular weapons got slapped with nerfs:
-
The CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifle now has a reduced headshot multiplier (down from 1.6x to 1.35x).
-
The HDR Sniper Rifle also took a hit in effectiveness.
-
Even the AK-74 got nerfed, making it less of a go-to pick.
On the bright side, the Krig C received a surprising buff, so maybe there’s a new meta weapon on the horizon.

Looking Ahead
With Blueprint Swap finally back and a few balance tweaks rolling out, Treyarch seems to be listening—just maybe on their own timeline. Here’s hoping they keep the momentum going as Season 4 approaches. For now, at least, players can jump into Gunsmith and give their weapons that much-needed personal flair.
