New League of Legends Player Left in Tears Due to Toxic Community in Early Games

Toxicity in League of Legends continues to deter new players, with one newcomer sharing a tearful experience in blind pick games. The challenge of breaking into the MOBA's competitive environment remains a concern.

After experiencing toxicity in their first few blind pick games, a recent League of Legends player who was new to the game reportedly broke down in tears.

For 14 years, Riot Games' well-known MOBA League of Legends has been a mainstay in the gaming world. The community, however, has grown to have certain expectations as the player base has evolved and can become quite upset when those expectations are not satisfied. This has caused the climate to become more poisonous, especially since Riot promotes ranked mode, which fosters a fiercely competitive environment.

This poisonous environment in League of Legends can be a major barrier to understanding the game for new players. The difficulties faced by individuals attempting to enter this challenging MOBA were recently highlighted when a new player expressed their poor experiences with learning the game.

The Reddit user Kasiskas reported that they have only played four blind pick games in League of Legends prior. To get the hang of things, they had largely played AI games or practise modes. To the dismay of their teammate, they unwittingly got in the way of their jungler's attempt to clear their first buff in their third blind pick game while playing as Tristana. Even though Kasiskas ultimately prevailed in the game, he was discouraged by the encounter.

Kasiskas expressed scepticism over whether League of Legends was the best game for them because they felt delicate and were afraid of making mistakes. They bemoaned the effects of conflict with other players and said, "I don't think League is for me, which makes me so sad, but I'm just too sensitive and terrified of making mistakes."

Despite the terrible experience occurring in a non-ranked blind pick game, this emotional reaction nonetheless occurred, demonstrating the ongoing problem of toxicity in League of Legends' casual modes.

The Reddit community came together to support and advise Kasiskas. Some suggested looking for communities that would be willing to mentor new players, acknowledging League's challenging learning curve and the game's inherent toxic behaviour.

Others suggested that the best way to reduce toxicity and distractions was to mute every player and treat them like bots.

League of Legends' toxicity has been addressed by Riot Games, but it is evident that the game still has problems with unruly player conduct. The Kasiskas story highlights the continued difficulty of making the world of online gaming welcoming for beginners.
