Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, has updated fans on recent changes. These adjustments are tied to a legal battle over alleged patent infringement. The studio said it is still fighting the claims and believes the patents are invalid. However, to avoid further issues, some game features had to change.
Summoning System Changed in Patch v0.3.11
On November 30, 2024, Pocketpair released Patch v0.3.11. It removed the ability to summon Pals by throwing Pal Spheres. Instead, Pals now appear next to the player. Other mechanics were also updated. The studio confirmed these changes were a direct result of the lawsuit.

Gliding Altered in Latest Update
Patch v0.5.5 introduced another major change. Players can no longer glide using Pals. They must now equip a glider item to do so. Pals will still offer support through passive buffs. Pocketpair admitted this was another difficult but necessary compromise.
The developers apologized for the inconvenience and concern the lawsuit has caused. They said the team shares the community’s frustration. Still, the focus remains on keeping the game running and evolving.
