Splitgate 2 Prepares for Open Beta Launch Featuring Fresh Content and

Next-gen portal shooter to debut across major platforms with evolving seasonal structure and free-to-play access.

Splitgate 2 will go into Open Beta on May 22, providing gamers with a free-to-play multiplayer shooter with a portal twist. Released on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam Deck, the game brings back the distinct arena combat of the original with improved gameplay, new mechanics, and frequent content updates.

Created as a never-ending journey, Splitgate 2 unveils a rebuilt seasonal format. A season is divided into three monthly chapters, each providing fresh maps, modes, cosmetics, and a miniature Battle Pass. These small passes cost $4.99 and are designed to be easier to finish, with their duration extended through the length of the season. Importantly, each pass pays out enough Splitcoin—the premium currency for the game—to get the next one for free.

To celebrate the beta, three faction-themed Founder’s Packs will be available, each offering exclusive character and weapon skins, emotes, and more. The Aces Founder’s Bundle includes all faction packs, 2,000 Splitcoin, and a unique emote. The Ultimate Founder’s Bundle adds even more skins and increases the Splitcoin total to 3,000.

The in-game market will cycle through a range of cosmetics—character skins, portal effects, sprays, and banners—most of which tie into the seasonal narrative. Showstopper items include mythic-level skins such as the "Deadly Harvest Jackhammer" that incorporate custom animations. Critically, the developers have prioritized a no pay-to-win approach.

Cosmetics may also be acquired by playing, viewing streamers, or participating in community events such as "Hunt the Devs." Players will earn a second currency, Proelium, for upgrading cosmetic items in addition to Splitcoin. It can be obtained through Battle Pass rewards, daily logins, or bought directly.
