When asked whether Asus is planning to jump into console gaming, Arnold said that the company has launched ROG Ally, a portable handheld console that would bring an immersive gaming experience to the users. “A lot of our devices are moving towards a smaller form factor. The idea of bringing smaller devices has been there with us for around 4-5 years when we first introduced a 14-inch device followed by a 13-inch Flow Series. With the introduction of ROG Ally, users can get a PC-like experience on a 7-inch screen and use it for various purposes including content creation or playing AAA gaming titles.”

Arnold further elaborated on the innovations that went into making Asus ROG Ally. He said, “The newly launched ROG Ally was in the making for the last five years. We partnered with AMD for the Z1 chipset that has been used in the Asus ROG Ally. Being a handheld device, we already knew that it would be used more roughly by the users, hence apart from providing the best display with higher resolutions and response time, we ensured full safety with Gorilla Glass Victus and anti-scratch and anti-reflective coating on top of it.”

On the design forefront of the Asus ROG Ally, Arnold said that the company took inspiration from the existing competitors in the market. “We talked to our engineers who worked on building the ROG Ally, and the inspirations do come from the existing competitors in the market who have set a benchmark like PS5 controllers and Xbox controllers. Those inspirations combined with our innovations resulted in the making of this powerful device,
ROG Ally.”

Arnold explains the factors that distinguish ROG Ally from its competitors

The Asus ROG Ally has been a completely different device compared to its competitors. It is the only handheld device that is coming with official support, while our competitors present globally are not in India officially. The ROG Ally is a Windows 11 device that works on the basic architecture of the OS, hence, users can play smaller as well as big games available on the Windows ecosystem. Apart from PC titles, users can also enjoy mobile games like Genshin Impact and Asphalt on the device. Furthermore, the extension of the GPU capabilities enables this device to become a console by it with the desktop or TV. These things are not possible with the competitors in the market.

Every brand has a target audience by which the needs and demands are identified. When asked about the primary customer demands addressed by Asus ROG Ally, Arnold said that the people who want to play games on the go are one of the primary customers. “Since it’s a handheld device, users can play games while traveling on the go, it can also be used as a primary device by the young generation who wants to experience PC games. Since, the market seems to move towards a PC gaming space, and also the users who are in the console gaming ecosystem looking forward to moving to PC gaming, ROG Ally becomes a great choice that provides a PC-like experience.”

Asus has been always known to bring gaming-centric gadgets to consumers. In recent years, India has witnessed a significant rise in Esports & Gaming.
