Dead Space movie is in development, hints filmmaker John Carpenter

The filmmaker was earlier linked to the project but accidentally revealed that a different director is working on the Dead Space movie.

There's possibly a Dead Space movie in development. Filmmaker John Carpenter has accidentally revealed that another director is working on the Dead Space movie. Carpenter was asked last October if he ever wanted to adapt a video game for a movie. He mentioned Dead Space and was since linked to the game with reports of a possible movie in development.

Now, Carpenter revealed in an interview with Variety that he was never a part of a project around Dead Space. However, he believes that someone else is directing a Dead Space movie. He said, “I’m a big video game fan, so I played all the games,” he said. “I was down looking at the new digital cameras, the RED, and happened to mention to them that I would love to do a Dead Space film. That just went around, and everybody said, ‘Oh, when are you gonna do it?’ I’m not gonna do it."

He added, "I think they already have another director involved. And they haven’t asked me to do it. So until someone asks me, I wouldn’t do it. But there’s a new version of the Dead Space video game coming out in January, and I’m there.”

Given that the Dead Space remake is coming out this month, this creates even further excitement among Dead Space fans. Of course, there's no confirmation if a project is indeed taking place or not. It's either a slip-up by Carpenter that has accidentally confirmed the development of a Dead Space movie. However, it does sound it could be guesswork but given the popularity of EA's game, Dead Space fans can consider this month a fruitful one so far.
