Discord voice chat is coming to PlayStation, suggests leaked code by dataminers

If the launch date is true, players can soon expect a beta version of the Discord integration to have a go at this new feature while the developers fine-tune it based on the feedback.

It was reported back in October 2022 that Discord Voice is headed to PlayStation. Before that translated into something official, we saw Xbox bring Discord Voice to its consoles. Now, a new rumour is making the rounds, based on leaked lines of code which suggests Discord voice chat will soon be arriving on PlayStation.

PlayStation and Discord collaboration

Dataminers have leaked several lines of code on Github that point towards the eventual launch of Discord Voice on PlayStation. The leak suggests Discord Voice will be available for PS players in March 2023.

If the launch date is true, players can soon expect a beta version of the Discord integration to have a go at this new feature while the developers fine-tune it based on the feedback. Some people are expecting Discord Voice to arrive on PlayStation with the 7.00 update, as per Insider Gaming

For the record, Discord has been available on PlayStation for quite some time. However, the integration was limited and it did not support the main feature of Discord which is the voice chat.

The code leaked by dataminers revealed that PS5 users will have ‘certain features’ that won’t be available for PS4 players. There’s no clarity about which features will be a part of this integration and which of these will solely be for the PS5 audience.

Xbox’s integration with Discord was welcomed by its community and the same can be expected by the PlayStation players. Online gaming, especially team-based video games, relies on communication and Discord’s voice chat provides excellent quality, noise cancellation and other impressive features.
