Fortnite has just released a new skin to combat a toxic gaming meme

Fortnite developers came up with a perfect response to players calling the battle royale a 'dead game'.

Fortnite has just released a new skin based on one of the most popular as well as toxic comments in the gaming industry. We’ve all witnessed comment sections filled with the term “dead game” whenever an existing game announces a new update or content. Fortnite happens to be one of those games that constantly get this sort of hate/banter from the gaming community. Fortnite developers have just acknowledged the association with this term and have come up with a pretty awesome clapback through their new outfit.

Fortnite hits back at "dead game" comments

The new “Checkered Past Pack” items pack includes the “dead game” outfit which has the words displayed on a Veronika skin. This pack also contains a Back Bling, a Pickaxe and a Wrap. The ‘dead game’ outfit has Veronika donning black nail polish along with a sleeveless black turtleneck which is complemented by a checkered hat. If the ‘dead game’ reference isn’t deadly enough, the black-and-white skull back bling adds to how rad this item pack truly is.

For those unfamiliar, ‘dead game’ is a popular diss term in the community which has pretty much turned into a meme itself. People have used this phrase to declare a game irrelevant and no longer a viable game to play. It’s also used by people to claim that the game is no longer likeable any more, perhaps due to changes or lack thereof.

However, this term is pretty easily thrown around and it does not always have any substantial claims to support it. So, the term is also used sarcastically by players whenever there’s fresh content or updates out, as a way of getting back at people who declared the game ‘dead’. Epic Games developers have done the same by casually mocking this hate term in a pretty cool manner.

Lovers of Fortnite would appreciate the idea from developers indeed. If you’re interested in buying this skin, the full pack is now available in Fortnite for 600 V-Bucks. You can also get it for ₹322 directly from the Epic Games Store. Fortnite arguably has the best skins to offer in recent games, thanks to a plethora of crossover events. Most recently, they’ve just added a new Hulk Buster Iron Man skin.
