He started with a win in the first game but So came back with a draw in the second. So then managed to win two games back-to-back to level the overall scores. Carlsen came back strong to dominate in the two tie-breaking matches to defeat So. On the other end, Arjun Erigaisi did not make things easy for Grandmaster Levon Aronian and played four fighting draws. Aronian managed to beat Erigaisi in the tiebreaker with a score of 1.5-0.5. Aronian admitted that Erigaisi was “a very difficult opponent”; high praise for the 17-year-old Indian.
