HBO’s Last of Us TV Show Adaptation is receiving extremely positive reviews

The Last of Us, a brand-new HBO television series, is scheduled to premiere on January 15, 2023. Critics have already given the series an overwhelmingly good reception.

The Last of US series is yet to be launched but it is already earning great reviews from critics. Many of the critics have appluaded the live-action video game adaptation. Empire went on to claim that Last of Us is “comfortably the best adaptation of a video-game ever made”. Check out what the critics said before the series releases worldwide on January 15.

The Last of Us receives excellent reviews from critics

Critics got access to the show's first season before its release, which is part and parcel of the reviewing process. The reviews are now out and they are overwhelmingly positive. The Last of Us has received a Metascore of 84 on Metacritic, and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Empire described the series to be “Comfortably the best adaptation of a video-game ever made: one that deepens the game’s dystopian lore, while staying true to its emotional core.” Empire further entitled the series to be a “masterpiece”, just like the game. 

 

The Last of Us game was first launched in 2013 and gamers are really eager for the series and seeing the most memorable scenes of the game in a live-action series would be a crazy experience.

Variety reviews the TV series as a “promising, moving zombie saga”, further describing, “The sensibility and relationships of ‘The Last of Us’ are on point.”

According to BBC, the game is “the best video game adaptation ever.” “Based on the mega-hit PlayStation game, about a man and a teenage girl travelling through the US during a zombie apocalypse, this HBO show starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey is a remarkable achievement”, writes BBC journalist Stephen Kelly.

The Last of Us TV show

The Last of Us TV adaptation is written and directed by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl and Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dogs. The show would star Pedro Pascal as Joel (popularly known in and as The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey as Ellie (Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones). 

This star-studded cast also includes Nick Offerman as Bill, Gabriel Luna will portray Tommy, Merle Dandridge plays Marlene, and Jeffrey Pierce will take on the role of zone rebel Perry. 

The Last of Us TV series adaptation will premiere on January 15, 2023 on HBO Max.
