One of the best parts about Hogwarts Legacy has to be the sheer number of puzzles scattered around the map of Hogwarts and the surrounding grounds for you to solve. Each comes with its own set of rewards, be it in the form of Field Guides or collectibles like galleons, and gear.
One such mind boggling puzzle has to be the locked door with symbols of beasts around the arch. Also being referred to as the arithmancy puzzle, they can be found in Hogwarts. Here’s how to solve it.
Hogwarts Legacy Arithmancy Door Puzzle- How to Solve
These doors can be found in various corridors across Hogwarts. It usually comes with a prompt that reveals the puzzle on the door with two triangles. However, if you still haven’t figured it out, but the chests hidden behind such doors continue to chase you, you’ve come to the right place to find out what to do.
As you can see, each door comes with 9 symbols of magical beasts around the arch. Each of these beasts correspond to a number. But the fun part is, the series starts from 0, and ends on 9. And here’s how this works-
The demiguise on the extreme left end of the series is 0; the unicorn with one horn corresponds to 1; the Graphorn with 2 horns is 2, the 3 headed Runespoor is 3, and so on and so forth. The series ends with the nine-headed hydra.
The triangles on the door of the puzzle have a number in the center, with three other numbers or a corresponding magical beast image on three angles. The numbers will add up to give us the sum which can be found in the center of the triangle. A simple math summation problem that many of us have already dealt with back in school. We have to find the missing number, only this time, the answer is in the form of a magical beast symbol corresponding to it.
Now each of these doors come with dice that can be found somewhere around the door. You can always use Revelio to reveal the dice in case you cannot find it. Roll each die till you find the symbol of the missing number(s).
Mind it, you will have to be quick as the puzzle vanishes after some time. Once the symbols are in place, the door unlocks automatically.Do note that the number of question marks on the dice indicate which triangle it corresponds to, where the first triangle is always the one on the top.
Where to find the Arithmancy Door Puzzles
Here are the locations where you can come across the arithmancy door puzzle.
- Ravenclaw Tower- Under the staircase, beside the knight
- Grand Staircase Tower- hard to point out the exact location in the forever changing staircases, but one leads straight up to it
- Grand Staircase- beside the floo fireplace
- Library Annex (3 puzzles)- one beside the Divination classroom floo fireplace, which leads to a hidden room with another puzzle door. Once in, you will find another puzzle door in the hidden room
- Central Hall- near the Potions classroom floo fireplace
- Potions Classroom- floor beneath the floo fireplace, behind a door with Level 1 Lock
- Astronomy Wing- Behind Charms Classroom floo fireplace
- The Great Hall- corridor towards the left of the Great Hall
- Hospital Wing- second floor that unlocks with side quest names The Caretaker's Lunar Lament
