Three high-profile and anticipated video games have just been delayed due to development-related reasons. These include Humankind, a 4X strategy title from Amplitude Studios, and Gotham Knights from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. This list concludes with Back 4 Blood from Turtle Rock Studios. The development studios and publishers behind these titles shared their rationale behind the delay mostly to polish them properly. These titles join an ever-growing list of delayed video games like Pragmata, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, and Hogwarts Legacy. 

Other delayed titles include The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Returnal, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. It continues with Gran Turismo 7, New World, and the upcoming Outriders. An increasing number of game developers have taken the stance of delaying the game instead of releasing a half-baked product after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Gotham Knights, Back 4 Blood, and Humankind release pushed back; details

First up, let’s talk about Gotham Knights and the details that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment shared around the title. It is pushing the title from 2021 to 2022 “to deliver the best possible experience for players”. The publisher also thanked its fans for supporting Gotham Knights since the initial announcement at the DC Fandome event in 2020. It is also looking “forwards to showcasing more of the game in the coming months”. As noted in the past, the game will feature Red Hood, Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and the Court of Owls. It is worth noting that WB Games Montreal is working on the title. The Studio has worked on Batman: Arkham Origins in the past.

Amplitude Studios stated that it is delaying Humankind to August 2021 from the initial release date of April. It will take this time to respond to the feedback and changes that players have suggested through its OpenDev program. The studio claims that it can “further” improve the game, but it will take some time. As per the announcement, the game will now release on August 17, 2021. Like WB Interactive Entertainment, Amplitude Studios also thanked its fans for support and feedback around the title. The developer shared a detailed blog post outlining all the changes it will work on to improve Humankind.

As noted above, Turtle Rock Studios pushed Back 4 Blood to October 12, 2021, from the initial launch date of June. The studio stated that it “is working hard to make Back 4 Blood the best game it can” launch. However, it “needs more time” to make the changes and improvements. It also thanked fans for their “continued support” while announcing “an open beta” release “this summer”.
