The International 2023, also known as TI12, serves as the pinnacle of the year, where we crown the annual Dota 2 world champion. To get an insight into the 2023 DPC ranking and discover which teams will be competing at TI12.
In order to secure a spot in this prestigious tournament, teams must consistently amass DPC (Dota Pro Circuit) points throughout the year. But where do these teams accumulate these valuable DPC points? In 2023, the Dota Pro Circuit consists of three Tours, each hosting Regional Leagues in six distinct regions and a LAN Dota 2 Major, all offering substantial DPC points. These points start at a lower value in the early tournaments and gradually increase as the year progresses.
By the conclusion of the season, the top 12 teams with the highest DPC points earn direct invitations to TI12. Additionally, eight more teams will qualify through the Regional Qualifiers, with two slots allocated for WEU and SA, and one slot for CN, SEA, EEU, and NA respectively.
Tundra Esports, the reigning champions of The International (TI), the dominant Gaimin Gladiators, who secured victory in all three Majors of 2023, and Team Spirit, the triumphant victors of the $15 million Riyadh Masters, are among the eight elite teams extended invitations to this event, selected based on their exceptional performance in the Dota Pro Circuit rankings.
The road to TI 2023's qualification wrapped up on August 31, with Quest Esports clinching the last berth through the Western Europe qualifier, prevailing over tough competitors like OG, Team Secret, and Luna Galaxy in the lower bracket. Remarkably, this marks the first instance since The International 2016 that OG, the two-time Aegis of Champions winners in 2018 and 2019, won't be participating in a TI tournament. Furthermore, in a historic turn of events, Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov from Team Secret will also miss his first-ever TI in the event's history.
