The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next Gen-Update: Here's everything that it'll include in the December 14 launch

Developers CD Projekt Red has elaborated on the features dropping with the next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, coming this December. Here's everything you need to know.

The much-awaited next-gen update is finally coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a critically acclaimed game that continues to be fan-favorite 7 years after its launch. After multiple delays and postponements, the free next-gen update is scheduled for this December 14th.The news came earlier this month on November 14 from developers of The Witcher game series- CD Projekt Red. They’ve now elaborated more on the upgrades that will be included in the upcoming update, in their latest REDstreams event, as was promised. Here's everything you need to know. 

Next-gen upgrades in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

PC

Ray-tracing, FSR 2 and DLSS, and Dynamic Resolution Scaling are the standard additions that are integrated. Additionally, Screen Space Reflection technology has been applied to add to the realism of the graphics.

Ultra-Plus Settings is a new addition that the devs talked about. It which will allow customization of background characters, amongst other features to optimize the game to your system. The Photo Mode is much more developed, with a new camera added. It’ll let you can play around with the angles around Geralt, and even Roach for that perfect snapshot. Clearly they’re preparing us for photo mode contests, given how popular those are with fans of CD Projekt Red. 

CONSOLES

The Xbox Series X and PS5 will have two modes- performance and quality. Additionally, ray-tracing and FSR 2 are also integrated, along with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for PS5 controllers. For PS4 and Xbox Series S, you will get to choose between 60 FPS and 30 FPS options. The dynamic resolution scaling integrated will ensure a smooth gaming experience at the resolutions.  

Other Features & Improvements coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Quick Sign Casting option now allots two keys or buttons in case of controllers, for you to make your signs during gameplay. It’ll make your experience much faster and smoother. Additionally, the map has been improved, and made much cleaner, with new filters to hide the question marks and boats. There’s a new option that dynamically hides the minimap as well. Additionally cross-progression or cross-saves are now allowed. You can transfer your progress and pick up where you left off on whichever platform you choose. 

As for the Side-Quest inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series, you’ll be getting armors and alternative looks inspired by Henry Cavill and Joey Batey’s portrayal of Geralt and Dandelion. 

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming this December 14, with improved graphics, better textures, and all of the features that we’ve elaborated on- all for free. In the days leading up to the launch, more reveals will be dropped. In the meantime, you can check out this new trailer. 

However, the devs have informed that fans should continue to send in their feedback as they have all this while. After all, a number of fan-made mods have been included in the game.
