Microsoft has just formally announced that it is adding the popular “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege” to Xbox Game Pass. The popular online tactical shooter from Ubisoft is all set to land on Game Pass on October 22. This new addition makes Xbox Game Pass an even better deal for current as-well-as on-the-fence players. The announcement comes just hours after the company posted the first teaser hinting the move. As part of the announcement, Microsoft notes that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege player community is about sixty million strong. This move may push current Xbox Game Pass subscribers to the Rainbow Six Siege community. Regardless, this is a win-win for both Microsoft and Ubisoft. Let’s take a closer look at this announcement.

Megan Spurr, Community Manager at Xbox Game Pass noted that the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This means that players will be able to play the game both on the Console as-well-as their Android smartphones. Android smartphone means that that the game will be available on xCloud. Interested players with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can play the game on their smartphone with the help of cloud gaming. This means that the game will not be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC.

The absence of the game on PC will bar a sizable number of players from trying the game. However, it would still leave a respectable number of console gamers and xCloud players. Traditionally, Xbox Game Pass inclusion also leads to a significant discount on the game purchase for Game Pass subscribers. Though, we are not sure if this discount will extend to Game Pass for PC subscribers.
For some context, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a “highly competitive PVP” (player vs player) game. Players need to memorize the map to take down their opponents. The fast-paced game offers “unique operators” (in-game characters) along with in-game gadgets. Finally, Microsoft also announced that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can “get up to” 10 percent discount while purchasing in-game items.
