Haibara’s Teenage New Game+ Anime Adaptation Officially Announced

  • July 01, 2025 (UPDATED: July 01, 2025 12:22 IST)

The light novel Haibara’s Teenage New Game+ gets an anime, following a college student sent back to redo his high school life the right way

The light novel Haibara’s Teenage New Game+ is now getting an anime. The info was posted on their official X account. They also shared a key visual with it – the picture looks soft and calm. And on that same day, Volume 9 of the novel also came out in Japan. Everything happened together, so fans got nicely surprised.

Haibara’s Teenage New Game+ Story

This light novel was written by Kazuki Amamiya, and Gin made the illustrations. The first volume came out back in December 2021 from HJ Bunko, under the Hobby Japan brand. The story is a youth drama, though it has time travel in it, or something like that. After some time, a manga also began. The full-color manga, drawn by Misaomaru, has been coming out on Comic Fire since June 2023.

The main character, Natsuki Haibara, is now a college student. His high school life before wasn’t going well—he was lonely and made many mistakes. But then, he somehow finds himself going back 7 years, to just before high school starts. It’s like life giving him one more chance. Now he wants to change it all. He started working out, looking up advice articles online, and also asking his childhood friend to help him. His goal is to become better at social things. He also wishes to talk to the girl he liked before. But not all things will go smoothly just because you get a second try. Even with time travel, life does not always listen.

They didn’t say anything about when the anime will come or which studio is doing it. There is no detail on the cast or staff either. The only confirmation is that it’s being made. The visual is kind of warm and peaceful, maybe meaning it won’t be too intense or loud in tone.

For overseas fans, the light novel is being published in English by J-Novel Club. So, actually, many have already read it. Now, with the anime adaptation coming, the story might get even more attention. It’s not fantasy, nor action-packed, but sometimes such quiet stories feel closer to the heart.

Now everyone waits for more updates. A story about going back, trying again, becoming braver, and becoming a better self—it’s something people maybe can understand. Maybe this time, Haibara gets the school life he couldn’t have last time.
