Hey, so, exciting news from the Battlefield 2042 team! The end of the line for seasons is coming up with season seven, which kicked off back in March. But hey, don't sweat it! Even though seasons are wrapping up, it's not game over for Battlefield 2042. Nope, it's gonna keep on truckin' with fresh content and all systems go.
In a recent blog post on EA's website, Beede broke the news that season releases for Battlefield 2042 will be coming to a close. This decision came after EA originally planned for just four seasons but ended up rolling out more due to feedback from the community. "While we've had a blast crafting these seasons of extra content for Battlefield 2042, it's time for us to shift our focus from the present to the future," Beede shared. So, Season 7 is set to be the grand finale for Battlefield 2042's seasons.
Even though Battlefield 2042 faced some challenges at launch and didn't quite hit the same highs as its predecessors, the journey doesn't end with Season 7. Beede assured players that the game will carry on as usual, receiving fresh content and updates, albeit without the structure of official seasons. "After Season 7 wraps up, we'll still be here to keep the game lively with new challenges, events, modes, and of course, regular maintenance," he clarified. So, while the season format may be bidding farewell, the Battlefield 2042 adventure continues.
He wrapped up by acknowledging Battlefield 2042 as a significant milestone for the franchise and credited the community's input for helping DICE and EA "set the stage for the future."
Recent events, such as EA's layoffs resulting in the cancellation of a single-player Battlefield project, coupled with the conclusion of Battlefield 2042's official seasons and DICE's focus on multiplayer, hint at the possibility of another multiplayer-centric Battlefield game on the horizon.
