Ubisoft CEO Frédérick Duguet revealed that both the games will likely launch in the first half of the 2021-22 fiscal year. Let’s check out more details around the delayed launch date for Far Cry 6, and Rainbow Six Quarantine here.

Game publisher Ubisoft has just shared some important updates for its upcoming games during its earnings call. It is pushing back the launch of two of its most-anticipated games, Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine. The company elaborated that it is pushing the launch of the game to the fiscal year of 2021-22 instead of the current timeline of 2020-21. This means that both the games will launch sometime after March 2021. Ubisoft CEO Frédérick Duguet revealed that both games will likely launch in the first half of the 2021-22 fiscal year. Let’s check out more details around the delayed launch date for Far Cry 6, and Rainbow Six Quarantine from Ubisoft.

Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine delay details

Duguet stated that the company is delaying the launch due to production challenges from work from home setup. In addition to the financial earnings report, the Far Cry team also issued a statement on Twitter. The team stated that it wants to focus on the well-being of its members during the ongoing global pandemic. As part of this focus, the teams are working from studios and their homes. This delay will allow the team to craft “a rich and exotic world” along with “an epic story”. The delay of this announcement comes weeks after Ubisoft announced the game with a launch date of February 18, 2021.

It is also worth noting that the company had not announced any launch date for Rainbow Six Quarantine. Instead, the company had aimed at “early 2021” as the launch window for the game. This is not the first Ubisoft game to face delay due to COVID-19. We have seen delays in the launch of the recently released Watch Dogs: Legion and Immortals: Fenyx Rising (previously known as Gods & Monsters). Ubisoft launched Legion on 29 October while Fenyx is scheduled for December.

In addition to Ubisoft, multiple game publishers and studios have delayed games due to the pandemic. The most visible example of these delays is the third delay in the launch of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. Furthermore, Ubisoft noted that the development of “Beyond Good and Evil 2” is “progressing well”. This update comes a month after the creator of the original game announced his exit from the video game industry. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated in the earnings call that the game “is coming along very well.”
