Looking closely at the announcement, the Legendary Edition is the remaster of the original trilogy. Let’s check out more details around the Mass Effect Legendary Edition and other N7 day announcements here.

Game developer and published BioWare has just announced a new Mass Effect game in an announcement on N7 Day. As part of the announcement, the company revealed that it is launching Mass Effect Legendary Edition in 2021. Looking closely at the announcement, the Legendary Edition is the remaster of the original trilogy. For some context, the fans of the series celebrate November 7 as N7 day each year. “N7” is also a nod to the special forces and the rank of the protagonist of the series, Commander Shepard. Let’s check out more details around the Mass Effect Legendary Edition and other N7 day announcements here.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition announced, details

As per the announcement, BioWare noted that the Legendary Edition is rolling out to both PC and gaming consoles. The console releases will include PS4, PS5 series, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X devices. We also got a confirmation from the game developer that the updated version will be optimized for 4K Ultra HD. The company did note that Legendary Edition is not a “full remake”. Instead, it is more like an “enhanced” edition to the first three games with HDR and faster framerates. BioWare has focused more on improving the games to attract newer players to the franchise in 2020. It will offer fans a chance to enjoy the game on the latest hardware.

BioWare also posted a 42-second teaser for the Legendary Edition on its social media platforms. This teaser shows close-ups of multiple characters from the Mass Effect series. Though, the teaser does note that these close-ups do not reflect the “actual gameplay” of the game. It is worth noting that Mass Effect is not the first game that the company has enhanced in recent years. Previously, the company also released enhanced versions of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Burnout Paradise.

Though the company has revealed a launch for 2021, there is no specific date set for the launch before “Spring”. Regardless, the Legendary Edition of the game is already available for pre-order on several online retailers for $60. These platforms include Amazon and Best Buy. The first game from the series launched all the way back in 2007. The company also noted that “a veteran team” is currently in the “early stages” of the untitled Mass Effect 5. This will likely follow Mass Effect: Andromeda that launched in 2017.
