No Indian team to participate in PMWI this year

Tencent has officially announced the list of teams that will compete in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2023. PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) is a mid-season event conducted by Tencent Games every year. Top teams from different regions compete during the tournament to get the podium finish. However, the 2023 edition of PMWI will not have a single team from India following the suspension of BGMI in the country. 

BGMI was removed from Indian Play Store and App Store in July 2022 under section 69A of the IT Act. It's been over nine months and players in the county are eagerly waiting for the game to return. In the previous edition of PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI), two Indian teams including Team Soul and 7Sea Esports were given the chance to represent the country following their great performances in BMPS and BMSD. Team Soul, the champions of Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) S1 earned the direct slot to the main event of PMWI 2022, while 7Sea Esports won the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Showdown (BMPS) and earned the slot in the PMWI showdown. 

Since BGMI is currently banned in India, the esports competitions of the title have also been paused resulting in no slots for Indian teams in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2023. The prestigious tournament will kickstart in July 2023, the complete schedule of the tournament is explained below.

PMWI 2023 Format and Prize Pool

The PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2023 will be hosted by Gamers8 between July 11 to July 16. The tournament will feature a massive prize pool of $3 million. Just like the previous edition, the tournament has been divided into two different stages; the first stage is the All Stars stage where the highest-voted teams from different regions will compete against each other, and the second stage is the main event. The top six teams from the All-Stars stage will get direct entry to the main event of the tournament.

 

The main event will feature the top six teams from the All-Stars stage, and top teams from different regions. There is also a special invite which has been given to the winners of PMWI 2022, Vampire Esports. The picture will get more clear as the regional tournaments conclude in the upcoming days.
