Overwatch 2 Patch Nerfs Winston, Ashe, Sombra, and Juno in Season 12 Update

Overwatch 2's latest patch brings nerfs to Winston, Ashe, Sombra, and Juno, altering the meta for Season 12. Learn about the hero balance changes and their potential impact on gameplay, along with bug fixes for FPS drops and rank display issues.

A new Overwatch 2 patch has just gone live, and it's brought nerfs to four different heroes across the tank, DPS, and support roles. These changes are expected to have a notable impact on the ongoing meta for Season 12 and beyond.

Here are the Details of the Nerfs:

  • Winston: The damage per second from Winston's Tesla Cannon primary fire has been reduced from 75 to 70. This slight reduction lowers his ability to deal sustained damage, especially when diving into enemy backlines.

  • Ashe: Ashe saw a nerf with her reload time per bullet increased by 0.05 seconds, which slightly slows her ability to return to combat after unloading her rounds. Additionally, her primary fire’s damage was reduced from 40 to 35, lowering her burst potential.

  • Sombra: Sombra’s Virus ability, which deals damage over time, had its overall damage reduced from 90 to 75. This makes her less lethal when applying pressure to squishier heroes through her ability kit.

  • Juno: Juno’s Mediblaster received multiple adjustments. The SMG’s fire rate was increased from 14.3 to 15.5, but the damage per shot was reduced from eight to 7.5, and the healing was reduced from seven to 6.5. These changes balance out her potential, slightly reducing her healing and damage output despite the increased fire rate.

Aside from the hero changes, the patch also fixed various bugs, including one causing major FPS drops during matches on PS5 and another that caused ranks to display incorrectly for badges and emblems.

Blizzard has not provided specific reasoning for these changes in the patch notes, but it's likely these adjustments were made based on player feedback and issues that emerged during Season 12. The developers will be keeping a close eye on how these tweaks impact gameplay and the evolving meta moving forward.
