Pokemon GO: December 2020 events include Mega Abomasnow, Kyurem raids, and spotlight hours

This information came just days after it announced the first major upgrade that the game will receive since its launch. Let’s check out the details regarding the upcoming Pokemon GO events here.

Niantic Labs and The Pokemon Company have just shared a brief outline of upcoming events on Pokemon GO. This outline helps us understand what we can expect in December before the end of 2020. As part of the announcement, the company shared details about the in-game activities, bonuses, rare Pokemon, and more. This information came just days after it announced the first major upgrade that the game will receive since its launch. Looking back, the company will roll out the “Go Beyond” update next week that will bring significant changes to Pokemon GO. Some of these changes include Gen 6 Pokemon, a higher-level cap, more XP to make leveling-up easy, and more.

As per the new level-cap, players can level up from the current peak of 40 to the new peak of 50. The Pokemon GO “Go Beyond” update will also introduce Seasons to the game with a new season rolling out every three months. Niantic Labs is also holding a “12 Days of Friendship” event where the friendship level will increase at a faster rate. Pokemon GO December 2020 events out, details

First up, the game developer will roll out a new set of Field Research tasks along with rewards on December 1. Pokemon GO players will also get a new “Research Breakthrough encounter” along with the rewards. These encounters will allow players to come across either Lapras or Unovan Darumaka. Pokemon GO will also provide additional XP to players for catching either of the two Pokemon. Legendary Pokemon Kyurem is also making a return to the game as part of the five-star raids throughout December. Niantic Labs is also removing Mega Blastoise from its Mega Raids from December 1. However, it will add in a replacement in the Mega Raids with Mega Abomasnow.

It also shared a schedule of Pokemon Spotlight hours along with the date, particular Pokemon, and special bonus. As per the announcement, we will see a Seel spotlight event on December 1 with twice the evolution XP, Swinub Spotlight on December 8 with twice the catch Stardust. December 15 is “Surprise Pokemon” Spotlight with twice the catch Candy, December 22 is Snorunt with twice the transfer Candy. Finally, December 29 is set for Snover Pokemon spotlight with twice the evolution XP. The month will also offer twice the XP for catching Pokemon to allow players to reach level 40.
