The Pokemon Company International, the parent company responsible for the pop-culture phenomenon called “Pokemon” has made a new announcement. The company claimed that it is gearing up for “a very special celebration” for the anniversary in 2021. The Pokemon Company will likely share plans around the multiple celebration events it has teased on its social media handles. Let’s check out everything we know around the 25th anniversary of Pokemon here including the logo.

Pokemon 25th anniversary logo, details

Looking at the information, the company shared the logo on its official Twitter handle. We can see a figure that resembles the face of the popular Pokemon Pikachu. However, The Pokemon Company International has replace the iconic red cheeks with the numbers “2” and “5” in Red. This logo also comes with a wire-frame share of the Pikachu tail on the left side of the poster. The company has also added the logo “Train On” below the figure resembling the Pikachu face. It is likely an homage to the primary motif in the Pokemon franchise of capturing and training the Pokemon.

The poster also includes what appears to be a calligraphic sketch on countless other Pokemon in the background. Some of the more notable ones include Squirtle, Bulbasour, and more waving at the viewer. It is interesting to note that the company has not limited the sketches in the background to classics from the Indigo league or from generations. Instead, the company has tried to include Pokemon from multiple generations, and anime series.

For some context, the franchise kicked off after the release of “Pocket Monsters: Red and Green” on February 27, 1996. The company followed with the second title, Pocket Monsters: Blue on October 15, 1996 before changing the name to Pokemon. Ever since that, we have seen 20 video game titles, 23 anime series, and countless movies around Pokemon. The Pokemon franchise has grown way beyond the traditional sense to invade the world of merchandise, Maga, and more to influence the culture and spawn a global fan community. It is also likely that the company has had to tune and tweak its events considering the global pandemic from its initial plans.
