'In a quagmire of endless war, conviction is your only way out. Observe every facet of the world, and witness a kaleidoscope of ideals'. Here's all the information that's now out on Project: The Perceiver.
A new open-world action game has been revealed a few hours ago with one long debut trailer. This looks like the beginning of a new IP that will have some AAA game experience in store for us. Project: The Perceiver. We got to see some gameplay and were introduced to the world that it is set in. So let’s dive straight into the details.
Project: The Perceiver
It is an upcoming open-world action game, against the backdrop of Ancient China. However, with the trailer giving off a very Ghost of Tsushima-Sekiro-esque vibe, it’s only natural that The Perceiver is laden with fantastical elements. The game keeps the ancient Chinese philosophy of Zhuangzi at its core, which says that there is no beginning nor end, no good, or evil. Describing the game, the official website mentions the following- “In a quagmire of endless war, conviction is your only way out”. A further elaboration implies that the chaos can be accounted to a “bizarre entity”.
Moving on to the gameplay, it is mostly duel-based. At the same time, as can also be seen in the trailer itself, masks play a primary role in the powers of a character, and probably the skins too. The official website too has highlighted the Mask of Umbra and the Mask of Devotion till now, while more are ‘to be announced’.
Platforms, launch, and other details
Project: The Perceiver is being developed by Papergames, and its in-house studio 17ZHE Studio. If the name Papergames sounds familiar to you, you might be able to recognize it from mobile games like ‘Shining Nikki’ and ‘Love and Producer’. As for the game, it will in fact launch on Android and iOS platforms, as confirmed by the Chinese app TapTap, where the game already has a page.
Additionally, the game will also launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Other platform reveals may come in soon in the future. No launch window or date has yet been revealed. However, Tap Tap already makes available the option to pre-register for Android, so who knows, the launch may not be too far away.
