Sony PlayStation is reportedly collaborating with a South Korean dev for Horizon MMORPG

The long-rumored multiplayer game from Sony PlayStation's Horizon franchise may ultimately not be in the works at Guerrilla Games. Here's everything you need to know.
Sony’s interest in live-service games has long been in the news for the various projects that it has already undertaken. This time, we have a fresh update on the Horizon franchise, a PlayStation Exclusive, being one of the biggest hits of the PS4. We’ve already informed you how the multiplayer feature has been long due in the franchise. Last October, reports surfaced that a new multiplayer Horizon game was in development. And now, while Guerrilla Games continues to be busy with the new Horizon game for PS VR 2, Sony seems to have relieved the studio from taking up the multiplayer project as well. A new studio is reportedly collaborating with Sony for an MMORPG based on the series. Read on for more details.
Sony's Horizon MMORPG- Latest Updates
The news comes from MTN, a South Korean publication. They have confirmed through sources that an ‘H seed development team’ within NCSoft is working to develop a new Horizon IP. NCSoft is a South Korean game developer known for MMO series like Guild Wars and Lineage. The source has also reported that this H seed team is recruiting developers for a “Project H”, which again is a nod to the popular franchise. Additionally, the source also added that negotiations for the partnership of Sony and NCSoft are still underway, and may soon lead to the positive development of Project H.
A number of publications have ever since reached out to Sony and NCSoft for their comments on the long-rumored multiplayer Horizon game. Only NCSoft has reverted back to MTN with “It is difficult to confirm information about unpublished projects that are currently under development.”
Other details
On the other hand, Guerrilla Games too were earlier spotted to have put out job postings for a multiplayer game in development. Many believed that it was for the Horizon IP itself, but no official statement was ultimately shared regarding this. As it is, we still didn't get to experience any live-service elements in any of the Horizon games that have launched to date. Regardless, if this news turns out to be true, we may soon see a change of hands for PlayStation’s Horizon franchise as well.
